How I Got Into Fitness
Hey everyone!
My name is Brynne and I'm a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. I am certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and wanted to share with you guys a brief introduction about me. So, to kind of start things off, my husband and I just recently moved from Honolulu to Las Vegas, and, yeah, we wanted to be closer to family and friends.
So to share a little bit more about me outside of fitness, some of the things I like to do. But I absolutely love anime! If I need any fitness motivation, like watching most shōnen will get me there. Aside from that, I also am a photographer, a videographer. I've been shooting a photography since high school, and it's another side gig I like to do. I am also big into gaming. When I can play, I enjoy playing games like open world, RPG’s and more!
To kind of start things off, I would probably say I've always been active throughout most of my life. I have been active, since I was little. I grew up playing sports, mainly soccer and then some basketball as well. And eventually my parents would introduce me to the gym and I would start to, tinker around in there. Granted I didn't know what I was doing. I’d see a leg press and just go off on that. But I would say probably around college that's when I became the “Cardio Bunny” (basically you do nothing but cardio), where all I did was just run. I mean, granted, running can be great, but, yeah, that's a long story.
But anyways, probably around 2018. That's when my husband but boyfriend at the time introduced me to, weightlifting and started doing some free weights and squats etc. But granted, I didn't know what I was doing still. I didn't really have the structure. I was just like, going like a lot of the bro science and felt pretty confused as to what I should be doing at the gym. Shortly thereafter, I became a certified personal trainer around 2019.
I started working as a personal trainer at the YMCA in 2019, but 2020 hit and all the gyms shut down because of Covid. So I went back to school, and ended up getting my degree in marketing, and minor in nutrition. I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur of sorts and so that's why I went to go get my degree in marketing. I was already certified as personal trainer, and I kept up with my continuing education credits. And so I just, I knew I wanted to pursue that path.
Fast forward to 2022 I started to go back to the gym again.
And roughly around the same time period, a friend of mine was also into weightlifting started to show me how to structure a workout program based off my goals along with coaching my form. Once I did that, I started to see results (trust me you will see better results when you actually structure a workout program). I also started recording videos of myself then, and also saw a lot of progress from doing that.
That's a controversial subject for some people, but I really like watching the videos back because then I can see where my form needed to be improved on. But yeah. And then I also was researching a ton on form, workout structures, etc. from articles and YouTube as well.
Some of the people I really look up to is, Jeff Nippard and Doctor Mike from Renaissance Periodization as well. Those two are the fitness gurus for me. And yeah, I would definitely recommend for you guys to check them out as well if you get the chance. You'll learn a lot. I really like the fact that they're more science based, and it's more of an education rather than just the typical bro science.
Lastly, I just wanted to share with you guys, a little bit of my mission as well. I want you guys to learn from my mistakes and hopefully apply some of the advice/tips to your own fitness journey! Just know though, that there is no one size fits all. You definitely need to do some research on what works best for you and your body, which will take time. So you just have to be patient with yourself.
But, if you guys have any questions or anything like that, feel free to drop them in the comments!
